The technology landscape is changing rapidly. It is crucial for innovative companies to keep up with the trends that could impact their business.

A quick look at the technologies that will impact the year 2025 and why you should definitely be interested in them.

Trending technologies in 2025

  1. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML)

Not a day goes by without talk of new AI-based applications, and this is true across all sectors. So, what can we expect in 2025?

    1. Generative AI: Tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, DALL-E, etc. will be increasingly integrated into companies' business processes. CRM, ERP, HRIS and other tools at the heart of how companies operate will all evolve to take advantage of generative AI. Generative AI will also gradually become established in audio (generating voices for dubbing, music for the film industry, etc.).

    2. Edge AI: Less known to the general public, Edge AI consists of deploying AI models directly on devices such as sensors or IoT devices to enable real-time analysis without the need for the cloud, making these devices much more autonomous. The first sector concerned is probably that of portable health monitoring devices (the "wearables" market such as smart watches), but could impact many other sectors this year.

    3. AI-Assisted Security: A major trend in security is the widespread adoption of AI to automate and improve threat detection.

  2. Quantum Computing

Quantum computing uses the principles of quantum mechanics to solve very complex problems at unprecedented speeds. The impacts for research laboratories can be considerable since it allows experiments to be multiplied much more quickly than before.

    1. Medicines: an unprecedented acceleration in the discovery and development of new medicines.

    2. Supply chain: reducing manufacturing costs and optimizing logistics to shorten cycle times.

  3. Blockchain

Blockchain and information decentralization technologies are gaining popularity beyond cryptocurrencies.

    1. Growth of Decentralized Finance (DeFi) solutions with the emergence of new financial products.

    2. Improving traceability in logistics through blockchain, helping to combat fraud and promote sustainability.

  4. 5G, 6G and Satellites

5G is making its way, demonstrating the possibilities of an increasingly connected world. New uses will emerge and other technologies are arriving to shake up the communications technology market.

    1. 6G development: after the launch of each generation, mobile connectivity players prepare the next one, promising even higher speeds and coverage rates. With speeds around 100Gb/s, 6G will reach a new milestone and will allow us to see the arrival of immersive environments and more complete interconnection between devices. 2025 will see many real-world tests while the deployment of networks will be around 2030.

    2. Connected mobility: significant innovations could appear this year in the mobility sector, including changes for autonomous vehicles and connected cities.

    3. Space technology: the race for space communications networks has begun. We are obviously thinking of Starlink, which popularized it thanks to the use of satellites in low Earth orbit. Amazon, with its Kuiper project, intends to do the same thing this year and start a strong competition with Elon Musk's firm. Not to mention the offer from the European giant Eutelsat-OneWeb, the world's leading satellite operator.

  5. Sustainable Tech (GreenTech)

With climate issues becoming increasingly present, "green" tech should be at the forefront in the years to come. A challenge that is all the more important since the emergence of AI implies considerable energy needs (we are also seeing the emergence of Data Centers powered directly by nuclear energy).

    1. Energy storage: one of the major challenges, particularly for the mass adoption of electric vehicles. We have been waiting for some time now for advances in solid-state batteries and 2025 could well allow us to finally see them arrive on the market on a large scale, promising greater autonomy and improved charging times.

    2. Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS): Despite the doubts that may exist about this technology, the promises of greenhouse gas reduction and impact on climate change are sufficient to expect a more widespread adoption of these technologies in 2025.

  6. Health Innovations (HealthTech)

The healthcare sector is one of those that probably has the most to benefit from technological advances in Artificial Intelligence.

    1. Wearables: they are everywhere (bracelets, watches, rings, etc.) and offer increasingly precise and advanced measurements to improve our daily health. The main challenge will be to provide personalized analyses that are relevant to users.

    2. Medicine/Drugs: AI will become essential in medical and pharmaceutical research, whether for drug development or medical diagnostics and treatments.

    3. Medtech and disability: the combined use of robotics and artificial intelligence provides more and more solutions to help people with disabilities. Innovations are increasingly convincing (visual, hearing, mechanical aids, etc.) and will be a major challenge this year and in the years to come.

  7. Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR)

Even though the market has struggled to really take off for several years, major players in Tech continue to believe in it and invest in the field.

    1. The metaverse, a paradise of social interaction in a virtual world, driven mainly by Meta, may reach maturity this year. The key is richer universes and the possibility of trying out products and services offered by partner companies.

    2. Virtual reality in video games seemed like a no-brainer. While video games remain the most important sector for VR, sales are not there and are rather declining. More accessible headsets and a more diversified game offering may help reverse the trend.

    3. Augmented Reality (AR) offers very interesting prospects (probably much more than VR), both for individuals and for manufacturers: AR windshields in automobiles and applications for connected glasses (navigation, tourism, security, training, assistance, etc.).

  8. Robotics

The race to develop humanoid robots has begun with Tesla and Xpeng as leaders. But the entire robotics sector has been making great strides in recent years.

    1. Progression of cobots (collaborative robots): these robots, whose purpose is to assist humans in carrying out their tasks. They are increasingly present in industry and should take up more and more space in manufacturing, logistics or agricultural processes.

    2. Personal robots: these companions who will help us in our daily lives will arrive gradually without us knowing exactly when, but we should see further major developments this year.

Technologies to follow...

All these technologies and innovations will redefine the way we live, work, and interact. Keeping up with the evolution of these technologies is essential to gain a competitive advantage.
